WA Commits Funding for ERRCD Implementation

By February 27, 2017 No Comments

We’re pleased to hear Western Australia is committing $1 million to implement the Electronic Recording and Reporting of Controlled Drugs system (ERRCD), by 2018. The implementation of the nationally available ERRCD solution developed by XVT will directly combat ‘doctor shopping’ and self harm caused by the misuse of prescription drugs.

WA will be the fourth state/territory to commit to implementing this real-time monitoring solution. Tasmania, the ACT and New South Wales have implemented ERRCD. Victoria has committed funds and are in the process of preparing for the implementation of the system.

As with other states and territories who each have their own legislation, WA will need to review and amend state legislation to cater for the new system and undertake modifications to cater for state-specific requirements.

XVT are not only the original developers, but also proud supporters of the effort to combat prescription drug misuse. We are actively engaged with State jurisdictions, the Federal Department of Health, governing bodies and industry associations. Our ERRCD team is committed to continue working closely with all involved parties to identify and solve the challenges, as we continue to assist in the roll-out of this system nationally.
